Bakelite open wagons NE

Pre-1940 mouldings were produced in coloured Bakelite. Re-introduced in 1948 models used black resin and had to be painted in their respective colours. Pre-1940 models also had the wide stripe transfer to indicate the drop end. On the painted wagons a narrow white stripe was painted on the diagonal strapping adjacent to the drop end, (see next photograph).
